LemonAid was established in 2002 in memory of the September 11th attacks, with a mission to turn lemonADE into lemonAID by raising awareness and funds for local charities that serve children.

Where it all began…
The neighbors on 700 Bonnie Brae in River Forest came together to honor the day with a simple, powerful idea—a lemonade stand to support a local children’s charity. What started as a small act of kindness has grown into a beloved community-wide event involving more than 80 residents, especially kids, who work together to make it happen.

This year, Opportunity Knocks is honored to be a 2025 LemonAid recipient. Your donation will directly support our life-enriching programming for young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Join us in turning lemons into meaningful impact!
